Inspiration from NewDressADay

Katrina will remember my fascination with Marisa and her New Dress a Day project.  Marisa gave up regular clothes shopping for a year - 365 days and instead designed a new piece of clothing every day for the whole year.  As if that weren't impressive enough, she only spent $365 dollars on all of that creativity by repurposing and restructuring pieces she found at thrift stores.

Much of her work completely blows me away!  Check out this transformation from day 117:

While seeing her extreme modifications and results is completely intimidating.  I also found myself frequently thinking "I can do that!"  As always, "I can do that" leads to an attempt.  Much like Barney on How I Met Your Mother, the challenge does not need to be issued in order for it to be accepted.

Challenge Accepted!

I've had this cute dress that I love for awhile, but after a laundry mishap it had shrunk too short for me to feel like it was really a dress anymore.  Yet, I loved the way the top fit so...out came my scissors!  The results?  TWO pieces I'm already loving.
The first, is the top as a new shirt.
The second, made from the portion I cut off the bottom, is a scarf
(which I also found can double as a belt when knotted! - Score!)
