Merry Christmas Part 1

I had my first Christmas of the season this weekend!  Both sides of our family do full events complete with gift exchanges so with those two, plus our Christmas at home I get to experience the joy three times this year.  Number one was this weekend with the Dights.

Grandma tends to outdo herself every year on the presents and this year was no exception!  I didn't look at the clock to be sure, but I know it took us at least an hour and a half to get through all of the gifts.  We do stockings and gifts from Santa and gifts from grandma and grandpa AND gifts from our exchanging of names!  Ooofta.

Of course, that does mean I come home each year with lots of goodies!  This year those included a new ironing board (I'm PUMPED for this!! - strange, I know, but I'm so tired of ironing my fabric for sewing projects on my table on a towel...) a vacuum (also a big deal - the little guy that once cleaned my dorm room just isn't cutting it in the new apartment), a new scentsy, some great books - for me and to share with my students, more $ than was necessary (but that is SO appreciated!), and although it was a stocking stuffer, perhaps my favorite little surprise was an apron from St. Jude decorated with patient artwork!  I love St. Jude...

As a bonus, the family got together for most of the day today too to throw a surprise party and celebrate my grandparents' 50th wedding anniversary!  It was so funny to listen to them talk with their friends who were all married during the same year - I believe the consensus was that the men had very forgiving wives - apparently that is the secret to a long marriage!
